I can't begin to explain how crazy it felt to travel to Mt. Fuji. The primary reason I wanted to go to Japan was to capture this beast, and when I finally arrived at the edge of Lake Kawaguchi, at the exact spot I had scoured google maps to find, I was nearly in tears because of how perfectly everything had come together. Perfect timing with the trains to get there, perfect weather to capture clear pictures, and perfect timing with the lighting to catch the sun setting on this monument of a mountain. It was a bold contrast to spending my first day in the city, but I highly recommend making the trip if you ever plan to go to Japan. (click pictures for full res)
At the Ĺtsuki station my train changed from typical subway style cars, to these swanky cars with exquisite wood floors.
Getting outside of the city made me realize how rural parts of Japan are.
Japanese children waking home from school.
A couple of people tending the family rice patty.
My first glimpse of Mt. Fuji from the train. It's amazing how big it is, and how far you can see it from.
One of the last frames from the two and a half hour sunset time-lapse. Recolored of course, but I thought it looked cool.
